The tentative program of a group project are;

  • Can undertake technical and feasibility studies including site investigations

  • Can use a range of computer software for developing detailed designs

  • Can undertake complex calculations

  • Can resolve design and development problems

  • Can manage budgets and project resources

  • Can schedule material and equipment purchases and deliveries

  • Can make sure the project complies with legal requirements, especially health and safety

  • Can assess the sustainability and environmental impact of projects

  • Can ensure projects run smoothly and structures are completed within budget and on time


 

This module provides students with strong understanding of Steel Building and Design Criteria, Design Loads, behavior of Steel Structures under design load and plate girders. It can provide the behavior and design of structural steel components such as members and connections in 2D truss and frame structures and simple steel structures. It covers estimating design forces for members of a structure, designing beams for lateral torsional buckling, designing compression member or columns, designing tension members, designing bolted connections and designing welded connections.

 

This module provides the problem solving skills of engineering mathematics. Students will learn the solid knowledge of principles, methods, results and clear view of what engineering mathematics is. It covers Complex Analysis such as Complex Numbers and Functions, Complex Differentiation, Complex Integration, Power Series, Taylor Series, Laurent Series, Residue Integration, Conformal Mapping, Complex Analysis and Potential Theory, and Numerics for ODEs and PDEs in Numeric Analysis. These generalize the familiar real functions of calculus.
